Organizations
An organization can be thought of as a literal organization if you're working as part of a team, or a grouping if you're working as an individual. You can be a part of numerous organizations, but every child component (events, speakers, etc.) will be restricted to a single organization and whoever has access to that organization.
Every new organization will be automatically added to the FREE tier. There is no payment information required when creating an organization. You'll have an opportunity to change the tier in your account settings later.
Organization Information
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Yes | Name of the organization, for example, The Polyglot Developer, or the name of an individual, for example Nic Raboy. Maximum 200 characters. |
| Website | No | Full URL to the organization's website (e.g., https://example.com). |
| No | LinkedIn company page URL (e.g., https://linkedin.com/company/example). | |
| X | No | X (Twitter) profile URL (e.g., https://x.com/example). |
| Tags | No | Up to 50 tags to categorize the organization. Each tag is limited to 50 characters. |
| Description | No | A description of the organization. Maximum 5000 characters. |
The only required field is the organization name. However, it is a good idea to fill in every field because it makes it easier when submitting sessions to an event. You and your team will have an easier time digging up information in a single place when submitting.
Organization Members
When an organization is created, the user creating the organization will be added as an OWNER. The owner is able to change the billing tier, do destructive operations such as disabling an organization, and other administrative tasks.
| Role | Description |
|---|---|
| OWNER | Full control over the organization. Can change the billing tier, transfer ownership, disable the organization, and perform all ADMIN actions. There is always exactly one OWNER per organization. |
| ADMIN | Can add and remove members, promote members to ADMIN, and manage organization settings. Cannot remove or demote the OWNER. |
| USER | Basic member access. Can view and work with the organization's events, speakers, and CFPs based on your subscription tier. |
Users with an OWNER role or an ADMIN role for an organization can add new users to the organization, promote them, or remove them. The owner can remove ADMIN users, but ADMIN users cannot remove OWNER users. A user with an OWNER role can transfer ownership to any other user that is part of the organization.
Active Speakers
The active speakers are a shortcut to some of the speakers that have been added to the organization. For more information about a speaker or to modify speakers, you'll want to use the "Speakers" link within the navigation.
